High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound (HIFU) is a new, minimally invasive treatment for localised prostate cancer i.e disease that has not spread from the gland itself. This treatment has been approved by NICE both as primary treatment and for salvage treatment following failure of a previous treatment e.g. radiotherapy.
