He was subsequently able to develop further his interests in renal cancer and upper tract laparoscopy as the laparoscopic fellow at King’s college Hospital (the first fellowship of its kind in England) in 2004.
In his first year as a Consultant, Richard engineered the introduction of the Greenlight PV laser system to Hampshire at the North Hampshire Hospital, and has been interviewed on radio and television for matters relating to this treatment and the management of benign prostate disease in general. Richard’s interest in minimally invasive procedures also involves the use of HIFU (high intensity focussed ultrasound) in the treatment of prostate cancer. He is also a regular referee for international journals including the British Journal of Urology International and Urology.
