Ureteroscopy is the telescopic examination of the ureter (the tube that drains the kidney). The telescope is passed down the water-pipe into the bladder and then up the ureter under a general anaesthetic. The telescopes may be rigid or flexible and permit the treatment of stones or sometimes tumours within the ureter and kidney.
