Mr Amr Emara qualified as a medical doctor in 1998, graduating from Ain Shams Medical School, Cairo, Egypt. He undertook a residency program in Urology and appointed to a University lectureship post due to outstanding academic achievements including research projects on urinary tract infections in children. He was awarded a masters degree followed by further research work on erectile dysfunction in men and accordingly was awarded the MD degree from the same University.

Mr Emara was successfully granted the fellowship of European board in Urology in 2008 then the Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowship in Urology in 2012. He attended post training fellowship on the Brachytherapy treatment for prostate cancer in Saint Luke’s cancer institute in Guildford. This was followed by a year as senior uro-oncology fellow in the University Hospital of South Manchester where he trained in advanced renal and pelvic cancer surgery. He was then granted a 2 year fellowship programme on upper urinary tract laparoscopy and robotic surgery in the specialised renal cancer unit in Frimley Park Hospital.

Mr Emara has special academic interest, he has published and presented over 70 peer reviewed publications and podium presentations in both national and international meetings. He is also an overseas supervisor for PhD candidates and international speaker in various urological meetings.

Amr is now a urology consultant at North Hampshire Hospital and works as honorary consultant in Frimley Park Hospital. His main surgical interest is specialised laparoscopic and open surgery for renal cancer including Cryotherapy minimally invasive technique. He has also developed his experience in diagnostic prostate cancer procedures including template biopsy and MRI-targeted approach. He has a special interest in the focal prostate cancer treatment using both HIFU and Cryo ablative techniques and also the Greenlight Laser Therapy for benign enlargement of prostate. More recently he shared in introducing the new minimally invasive steam therapy for prostate enlargement (Rezūm) to the UK.
